We have worked very hard for this, says Madurai Panthers all-rounder Abhishek Tanwar

Siechem Madurai Panthers stormed to their third consecutive win in the 2018 Sankar Cement-TNPL as they overcame VB Kanchi Veerans by 11 runs at the NPR College ground in Natham (Dindigul) on Wednesday, July 25.

Madurai Panthers’ all-rounder Abhishek Tanwar spoke to the media after the win.

Excerpts:

On three consecutive wins…

Obviously, we are very excited, and we have worked very hard for this and the mood in the camp is very good and it is good for the team.

Was 167 a defendable total?

Yes, it was definitely a defendable score, and we thought of 160 as a par score here. While I was batting, I had the total of 160 in my mind.

On the collective bowling effort tonight…

The pitch was comparatively slow today so on this kind of a ground and on this kind of a wicket, the bowling has to be up to the mark. If you give a lot of loose balls, then you can’t defend a total like this (167) which was just a par score.

On batting against wide yorkers in the last over…

I felt I was losing my shape in the earlier matches against wide yorker length balls, so I have been working on it at practice sessions and it made the difference tonight.
