Siechem Madurai Panthers registered their maiden victory in the 2018 Sankar Cement-TNPL against Chepauk Super Gillies at the ICL Sankar Nagar ground in Tirunelveli on Monday, July 16.

Pacer Abhishek Tanwar starred for Panthers with an economical spell of 0-22 (13 dot balls) in his four overs.

On his cricket journey…

I began playing cricket in college, one of my friends called me up to play in a local match. I played well in that match and I started taking  cricket seriously thereon.

On his role model…

I enjoy bowling fast, Australian fast bowler Brett Lee has been my idol since I started… I had a chance to meet him last TNPL, and it was a great feeling to get a few inputs from him.

On his performance against Chepauk Super Gillies…

I was quite defensive in the first match against Dindigul Dragons so for this match I wanted to play with an attacking mindset. I bowled in good areas and I am happy to contribute to the team’s win.

On the ongoing season…

I am primarily a fast bowler, so I want to keep picking wickets for my team. That being said, I am working hard on my batting as well. My aspiration is to do well this season and become a constant feature of the State team.
